BEUDANT
Dressage · Eventing · show jumping and hunter coming soon

Every test measured.
Every improvement visible.

Film your test and send it in. Beudant analyses it movement by movement and gives you numbers: regularity, accuracy of the figures, transitions, indicative ranges. You compare yourself with yourself, test after test.

Beta version: you can upload your videos now, on their own or with the judges' score sheet. The model is learning from the tests we receive; we will get back to you as soon as your analysis is ready.

Method

Three steps, no equipment.

A smartphone is all you need. The more complete your horse's record, the more accurate the measurements.

Horse record: SIRE number, measured height at the withers, body length, reference photos. These are the scale references for the analysis.

One report per test, movement by movement, and your progress curve building up session after session.

Measurements

Calculated numbers, never invented.

When the video does not allow a conclusion, Beudant says so: the measurement is marked "to check" rather than showing an unreliable number.

Assessment per movement

An indicative range for each movement, on the 0 to 10 scale of the FEI Dressage Judges' Manual, with strengths and points to work on.

Regularity and rhythm

Consistency of the paces measured over the whole test, stride after stride.

Figures and accuracy

Accuracy of figures and transitions relative to the letters, scaled to your horse's references.

Your progress

Complete history for each horse: you see what is improving, session after session.

Beudant is a training tool. Its assessments are indicative; they neither replace nor dispute the judges' marks, which remain the only official ones.

Marking according to the scale and criteria of the FEI Dressage Judges' Manual (Fédération Équestre Internationale), supplemented by the FEI Dressage Rules (art. 432), with the same standard for everyone. A sometimes large gap with the marks obtained in competition is therefore normal: it does not call into question the judges' mark, which remains the only official one.

Beudant and competition marks

The Beudant reading applies the FEI criteria rigorously, in the same way for everyone. On the tests compared with official results, Beudant marks are generally lower than those of the day. This gap between the video reading and the mark of the day is expected: the judge on site sees what the camera does not, and the Beudant reading remains an unofficial assessment.

The name
Captain Étienne Beudant (1863-1949) spent his life in search of lightness, without ever taking anything away from impulsion. A century later, we measure it.
A horseman trained at Saumur, hailed by the Écuyer en chef of the Cadre Noir as "the master of us all".
